Artistic Newsletter: Are you an artist, poet or writer? Place submissions for the Artistic Newsletter in Emily Pickerill's box. Express your talents and ideas by participating. Start submitting as soon as possible.

▪Positive Life Skills Class: Wednesdays, 9-11:30 a.m. PLS is a walk-in welf-empowerment program for Starting Over graduates and new guests. It is open to anyone (even staff). Receive a new key chain when you have attended all eight sessions.

July 16--"Mind/Body Connection" with Katherine Dick.
▪Computer Classes: Beginning—starts July 11. Fridays, 10-30-noon for four sessions. Sign up in ABE.
▪ABE Incentives: Students will be given a card to be initialed during each walk-in class attended. Once a student has attended 10 walk-in programs, cards can be redeemed for prizes.
▪Math Study Sessions: Mondays, 3-4 p.m., and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., SOSH room.
▪GED Essay Writing Class: Are you working on your GED? Do you need to write an essay or refine your writing skills? Then join us for the Essay Class, Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m.
▪Submit Your Poem: If you like to write poetry in your free time, this is your chance to be a published author! Submit a poem to any staff member in the ABE room and it may be published in the next ABE Newsletter. Also, we will hopefully start another Poetry Jam in the Fall; let us know if you are interested
▪The Write Stuff: Are you the only person who can read your handwriting? Come join us on Tuesday afternoons from 2-3 p.m. to learn writing that will look great on job applications, love letters, and everything else. Class starts May 6. Sign up in ABE.
▪Writing: Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m., ABE. Improve your basic writing skills under the guidance of a trained instructor.
▪Creative Writing: Starts June 12. Thursdays, 6-7 p.m.; open to everyone.

Lugnuts 9, Silver Hawks 6: The visiting Lugnuts won their 12th game in 13 meetings this season as the two teams moved into a first-place tie at 9-4 in the second half-season. Lansing has the league's best record overall this season.
Mike Mee led the Hawk attack with two hits (one triple), two runs, and two RBIs. Derrick Walker had two hits--including a 2-run homer in the third inning, his sixth of the year. .

Mugabe Sworn In: Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was sworn in for his sixth term Monday.
Mugabe had finished second in the general election in March, but Morgan Tsvangirai did not get the required 50% of the vote to win outright.
Tsvangirai pulled out of Friday's general election after violence against members of the Movement for Democrat Change (MDC) left 80 people dead and thousands injured.
The MDC and Mugabe's ZANU-PF have both rejected the possibility of a unity government similar to the one set up after Kenya's disputed presidential election.
