Two Arrested in Murder Probe: Michigan residents Nathaniel Richerson, 19, and Matt Weidler, 27, have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a (unnamed) resident’s body at 219 E. Dayton Street in South Bend this weekend.

The resident was discovered missing during a welfare check Friday and a missing persons report was filed. Police found the body buried in the back yard of the residence Saturday.

Richerson has been charged with murder and Weidler with assisting a criminal.

New CFH Exercise Room Hours: Monday and Wednesday, 1-3 p.m.; Monday-Friday, 6-8 p.m. (women 6-7 p.m., men 7-8 p.m.).

All guests using the facility will be asked to sign in and out.

Water Park Open: The children’s courtyard is open again but the water park east of CFH is still a cool alternative during these dog days of Summer.

Go east on Sample Street to Fellows Street by the Boys and Girls Club. Turn south. The park is on the south side of the YWCA. The water park is on the east side of the park.

Silver Hawks Tickets: All ticket requests must go through the development department. In addition, the Silver Hawks are unable to ac-commodate requests on short notice. If a guest is interested in attending a game please contact Jacqueline Kronk.

Artistic Newsletter: Are you an artist, poet or writer? Place submissions for the Artistic Newsletter in Emily Pickerill’s box. Express your talents and ideas by participating. Start submitting as soon as possible.

▪Positive Life Skills Class: Wednesdays, 9-11:30 a.m. PLS is a walk-in self-empowerment program for Starting Over graduates and new guests. It is open to anyone (even staff). Receive a new key chain when you have attended all eight sessions.

▪ABE Incentives: Students will be given a card to be initialed during each walk-in class attended. Once a student has attended 10 walk-in programs, cards can be redeemed for prizes.

▪Math Study Sessions: Mondays, 3-4 p.m., and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., SOSH room.

▪GED Essay Writing Class: Are you working on your GED? Do you need to write an essay or refine your writing skills? Then join us for the Essay Class, Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m.

▪Submit Your Poem: If you like to write poetry in your free time, this is your chance to be a published author! Submit a poem to any staff member in the ABE room and it may be published in the next ABE Newsletter. Also, we will hopefully start another Poetry Jam in the Fall; let us know if you are interested

Learn Better Handwriting: Tuesdays, 2-3 p.m., beginning August 5. Sign up in ABE.

▪Writing: Wednesdays, 3-4 p.m., ABE. Improve your basic writing skills under the guidance of a trained instructor.

▪Creative Writing: Starts June 12. Thursdays, 6-7 p.m.; open to everyone.

▪Book Club: Book Club will be meeting 9-11:30 a.m. and 7-8 p.m. Monday and 7-8 p.m. Thursday in the Starting Over Room. Sign up in ABE.

▪Masterpiece and DCP: Masterpiece and DCP classes will be starting soon. Watch for signs.

Padraig Wins PGA: Irishman Padraig Harrington became the fourth person and first European to win the British Open and PGA the same season. Harrington has won three of the last six major tournaments—he also won last year’s British Open.

Harrington finished at –3. Sergio Garcia and Ben Curtis each finished at –1.

There were no LPGA or Champions’ Tour events this weekend.

Olympic Parents Stabbed; Father Killed: The father and mother-in-law of Olympic men’s volleyball coach Herb McCutcheon were stabbed in Beijing this weekend.

Mr. Bachman was killed; Mrs. Bachman’s condition has been upgraded to serious.

The assailant jumped 130 feet to his death; no motive was given for the attack.

The Bachmans are the parents of 2004 Olympic women’s volleyball player Elisabeth (Bachman) McCutcheon.

Bernie Mac Dead: Chicago comedian/actor Bernie Mac, 50, died Saturday in Northwestern Memorial Hospital from complications due to pneumonia. He had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks.

Mac was the star of “The Bernie Mac Show” on Fox from 2001-2006. He starred in 27 films, including “Mo’ Money,” “Ocean’s Eleven,”, and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”

He was a member of “The Original Kings of Comedy” with Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and D.L. Hughley.

Ironically his last film appearance was in the soon-to-be-released “Soul Men” with the late Isaac Hayes, who also died this past weekend.

Isaac Hayes Dead: Actor/singer Isaac Hayes, 65, died Sunday at a hospital in Memphis. He had been taken there after being found unconscious in his home.

Hayes won several Grammies; he also received an Oscar for the 1971 “Shaft” movie theme.

Among the movies he appeared in were: “Tough Guys;” “I’m Gonna Get You, Sucka;” “Hustle and Flow;” and “Flipper.” He also provided the voice for the school cook on the animated “South Park” series.
