Dragnet Scoops Up CFH Pair: A community-wide dragnet scooped up two staff members from CFH yesterday.

Carla Lowe and Meg Awugah were arrested and taken to the “lock-up.” Their bail totaled $600. See “Uncle Ron’s Ramblings” to find out some of the things that money can do for “Jerry’s Kids.”

Uncle Ron’s Ramblings

No “Hard Time” for Carla, Meg: Meg, Carla, and the other “prisoners” rounded up for MDA didn’t actually do hard time.

They were taken to Tippecanoe Place—which means you can probably discount the unsubstantiated rumor.

I did consider running a picture of Meg in the “slammer” with this column but decided to pass it on to “America’s Most Wanted.” You can see it at the MDA web site (she’s right; she does look good in stripes).

What MDA Dollars Go For: $85—funds one minute of research; $100—support group session; $800—send one child to MDA Summer Camp; $2,000—assist with wheelchair or leg braces.

Unsubstantiated Rumor: It was reported by an unreliable source that the jail commander appointed jailhouse “snitches” to find out interesting tidbits of information about his “prisoners,” even though they weren’t hardened criminals; it was probably just force of habit.

Supposedly when the two from CFH were released the commander--a Yankee fan--said “Get those two out of here; I don’t want no Red Sox fans stinkin’ up my jail.”

Upon hearing that, one of the CFH pair allegedly raised her fist defiantly and shouted, “Beantown Rules.”
