Announcements
Art: Try out your creativity, Sundays, any time from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room.
CFH Film Series: The next feature in the CFH Film Series will be the 1999 Japanese anime epic “Princess Mononoke” directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which made Roger Ebert‘s list of 10 best films for that year. The film will be shown December 5 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.
It features the voice talents of Yoji Matsuda as Prince Ashitaka who encounters a human princess raised by wolves during a trip to the Far East. Princess Mononoke is voiced by Yuriko Ashida. The princess and the forest animals are battling an evil mining conglomerate. The film also stars Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup.
Qi-Gong: Mondays, 1-2 p.m., in the Community Room. All are welcome.

Four students from Notre Dame will be coming to the ABE room to help students learn Spanish.
▪Advanced Excel Classes: Wednesdays, Nov. 19-Dec. 10; 3-4 p.m. Sign up in ABE.
▪Computer Basics and Microsoft Word: Wednesdays starting November 5, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Four sessions: November 5, 12, 19 and December 3.
▪Power In the Workplace: Wednesdays, 6-7:30 p.m. December 3—“Legal Issues: What Are Your Rights?,” December 10—”The Story of American Workers,” December 17--”Globalization and the Future of Work.”
▪ABE Incentives: Students will be given a card to be initialed during each walk-in class attended. Once a student has attended 10 walk-in programs, cards can be redeemed for prizes.
▪Math Study Sessions: Mondays, 3-4 p.m., and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., SOSH room.
▪GED: A new GED class started up October 10 in ABE. All GED-bound students are welcome to attend. The class meets from 1-3 p.m. Fridays and includes group discussions and time to work on testing, individual assignments and the computer. Please see ABE for details.
▪Poetry Jam: Poetry Jam returned October 17. The new hours are Friday, from 3-4 p.m., in the ABE Room. Read a favorite poem, share your own work; or just listen, relax, and enjoy.
▪Writing: Thursdays, 6-7 p.m., ABE. Improve your basic writing skills under the guidance of a trained instructor.
▪Creative Writing: Thursdays, 6-7 p.m.; open to everyone.
▪Book Clubs: Inspirational Reading Squad—Monday, 7-8 p.m.; Regular—will be meeting Monday, 8-8:30 p.m. Read books of choosing (approved by ABE staff). Sign up in ABE or on the ABE bulletin board by the men’s lounge.

Coat Drive: Brown-Mackie College is sponsoring a coat drive in memory of former Brown-Mackie student and CFH guest Jan Griffith.

Jan was murdered in 2006 when an ex-boyfriend drove over her three times in the parking lot of the Panorama restaurant.

Suspense From the Master: The DeBartolo Performing Arts Center and CFH will present "North By Northwest," a classic by the master of suspense Sir Alfred Hitchcock, today at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.

In the 1959 film a hapless New York advertising executive (Cary Grant) is mistaken for a government agent and pursued across the country by real agents. The film also stars Eva Marie Saint and James Mason.
