Announcements

Art: Try out your creativity, Sundays, any time from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room.
Qi-Gong: Qi-Gong will be in recess from October 20-November 3. It will resume its regular schedule November 10.
Meditation: Wednesdays, 7:45 a.m., in the STAR classroom. Open to staff and guests.

ABE

▪Spanish Lessons: Sunday, November 2, from 6-8 p.m. in the Adult Basic Education Room. Four students from Notre Dame will be coming to the ABE room to help students learn Spanish.
▪Computer Basics and Microsoft Word: Wednesdays atarting November 5, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Four sessions: November 5, 12, 19 and December 3.
▪Power In the Workplace: Wednesdays, 6-7:30 p.m. November 5—"The Story of American Workers," November 12—"What Does It Mean (or Not Mean) to Be in a Labor Union?", November 19—"Globalization and the Future of Work," December 3—"Legal Issues: What Are Your Rights?," December 10—TBA.
▪ABE Incentives: Students will be given a card to be initialed during each walk-in class attended. Once a student has attended 10 walk-in programs, cards can be redeemed for prizes.
▪Math Study Sessions: Mondays, 3-4 p.m., and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., SOSH room.
▪GED: A new GED class started up October 10 in ABE. All GED-bound students are welcome to attend. The class meets from 1-3 p.m. Fridays and includes group discussions and time to work on testing, individual assignments and the computer. Please see ABE for details.
▪Poetry Jam: Poetry Jam returned October 17. The new hours are Friday, from 3-4 p.m., in the ABE Room. Read a favorite poem, share your own work; or just listen, relax, and enjoy. ▪Writing: Thursdays, 6-7 p.m., ABE. Improve your basic writing skills under the guidance of a trained instructor.
▪Creative Writing: Thursdays, 6-7 p.m.; open to everyone.
▪Book Clubs: Inspirational Reading Squad—Monday, 7-8 p.m.; Regular—will be meeting Monday, 8-8:30 p.m. Read books of choosing (approved by ABE staff). Sign up in ABE or on the ABE bulletin board by the men's lounge.
