Nappanee Cleanup: Thousands of volunteers showed up at NorthWood High School Sunday to help with cleanup after a tornado destroyed homes and businesses in Nappanee. Hundreds more had to be turned away.

Red Sox 11, Indians 2: Boston won its third straight game against visiting Cleveland after falling behind, 3-1.
Rookies Daisuke Matsuzaka (nicknamed “Dice K”) and Dustin Pedroia led the effort. Matsuzaka pitched five solid innings and second baseman Pedroia drove in five runs.
The Red Sox face the Colorado beginning Wednesday at Fenway Park. The Rockies have won 10 in a row and 21 of their last 22.

NFL

Bears 19, Eagles 16: Brian Griese drove Chicago 97 yards in less than two minutes to beat host Philadelphia.
The veteran QB capped the drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Mhusin Muhammad in the back of the end zone. Griese had to call his own plays due to a malfunction in his helmet transmitter.
Griese finished with 322 passing yards. It was the second consecutive 300-plus yard effort for the University of Michigan grad.

Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Martinsville, Virginia: Jimmie Johnson held off South Bend’s Ryan Newman and Indiana native Jeff Gordon to win his third straight win at Martinsville.
Johnson gained 15 points on Nextel Cup leader Gordon.
