Tribute to Gale Diedrich: There will be a memorial tribute to former Center for the Homeless guest Gale Diedrich at the regular 6 p.m. Monday night meeting in the CFH Community Room October 29.
Gale was found dead Monday afternoon, October 22, in a wooded area east of the Mishawaka Super 8 Motel on Lincolnway East.

Staff Infection: Several cases of a drug-related staff infection have been reported in Indiana. There has been at least one fatality.
The best preventive measures against the staff virus are cleanliness and personal hygiene.

Residents Returning Home: Southern California residents displaced by wildfires are returning home
The fires have destroyed 500,000 acres of homes and forests and have displaced half a million residents.
San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, home of the San Diego Chargers, was down from 10,000 to 350 evacuees yesterday.

Turkey Threatens Iraq: Turkey has massed 100,000 along its border with Iraq in response to deadly attacks by Kurdish guerillas based there.
Approximately 3,000 fighters of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party are believed to be in Northern Iraq.
Diplomatic efforts are underway to forestall a Turkish invasion of Iraqi territory.

Halloween Party: The CFH Halloween Party will be October 31, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., in the eerie dining room.
There will be spooktacular events including: cool Autumn music, creepy door prizes, gooey goodies (upon arrival), a pumpkin pie eating contest, and a best costume judging.
Dinner will be from 4 p.m.-5p.m.

MLB World Series

Red Sox 2, Rockies 1: Mike Lowell doubled home David Ortiz in the fifth inning for the winning run in a pitchers’ duel as Boston took a 2-0 lead over Colorado.
The Rockies, who had won 21 of their last 22 games prior to the Series, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Curt Schilling became the second plus-40 starter to win a World Series game. Detroit’s Kenny Rogers accomplished the feat last year. Schilling has a 11-2 record with a 2.23 ERA in 17 postseason starts.
Colorado rookie Ubaldo Jimenez was unhittable in the first three innings.
Ortiz drew a walk in the fifth inning and advanced on a single by Manny Ramirez.
Boston’s Hideki Okajima and Jonathon Papelbon pitched three and two-thirds innings of shutout relief to preserve the lead.
It was the Red Sox’ sixth straight World Series victory including a four-game sweep of St. Louis in 2004.
Boston rookie Daisuke Matsuzaka will start against Josh Fogg Saturday at Coors’ Field in Denver (8:35 p.m., FOX).
