Katie Laing had seven assists in the contest, giving her the all-time ND school record (471) and top single-season mark (147). The second baseman also added a hit.

The Irish came up empty in the fourth after getting a pair of runners in scoring position.

Silver Hawks 6, Wizards 5 (11): Hawk catcher Sean Coughlin continued his torrid hitting as he doubled in Evan Frey with the running run—his fourth RBI of the game--in the 11th inning Thursday night at the Cove.

Frey had led off the inning with a single and reached second on a botched pickoff attempt by Ft. Wayne’s Jackson Quezada.

Center fielder Frey also led off the first inning with a single and scored on an error which loaded the bases. Aaron Hanke drove in Taylor Harbin with a sacrifice fly in the first.

The hosts scored two more runs in the fifth inning. Frey singled with one out and scored his third run of the game on Coughlin’s 2-run single. Harbin got his second run of the game on Coughlin’s hit.

The Hawks (11-20) tied it in the seventh on Hanke’s two-out single that scored Michael Mee.

Obama Wins Two More Superdelegates: Barack Obama picked up the support of two more superdelegates in his for the Democratic presidential nomination today, including a former Hillary Clinton supporter.

That gives him a total of six superdelegates who have come over to the Obama camp since his strong showing in Tuesday’s Indiana (lost narrow decision) and North Carolina (won landslide) primaries.

Clinton kept busy meeting voters in West Virginia, where she is expected to win next Tuesday’s vote. She insists that she is in the race until the end, despite continuing pressure on her to withdraw.

As of last Thursday, Obama had 1,849.5 delegates to 1,697 for Clinton with 2,025 needed to win the nomination.

There are 217 pledged delegates left in the remaining primaries: West Virginia (28), Kentucky (51), Oregon (52), Puerto Rico (55), Montana (16), and South Dakota (15).

The means the 800 superdelegates will probably decide the nomination; 260 of those remain uncommitted, including 2nd District U.S. Representative Joe Donnelly.

UN Suspends Relief Aid Supplies to Myanmar: The United Nations suspended relief supplies to Myanmar (Burma) today after the military government seized the food and equipment it has already sent into the country.

Earlier, in a statement, Myanmar’s military junta said it was willing to receive disaster relief from the outside world but would not welcome outside relief workers. Nearly one week after a cyclone devastated the country, supplies were still being delayed and aid experts were being turned back as they arrived at the airport.

In the statement, the government said it would distribute international relief supplies itself.

Altogether, by one count, 11 chartered planes with relief supplies have landed in Myanmar, a tiny amount for a disaster that the United Nations estimates has affected 1.5 million people; by the government’s official count 22,500 people have died.

The top American diplomat in Mynmar, Shari Villarosa, said the death toll could reach 100,000 if help was not prompt and the humanitarian situation worsened.

One United Nations official said he had never seen delays like this in delivering relief supplies to a disaster area.
