Silver Hawks 6, Dragons 3; Silver Hawks 9, Dragons 7; Dragons 8, Silver Hawks 7: The host Silver Hawks improve to 33-36 for the season after taking two of three from Dayton over the weekend.

Lansing clinched the first half division title over the weekend.

The West Michigan Whitecaps come to town tonight to begin a three-game series; game time is 7 p.m. tonight.

NBA Finals; Lakers 103, Celtics 98: Paul Pierce put the Celtics on his back with a 38-point effort, but this time the visiting Celtics could not overcome an earlier deficit.

MVP Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 25 points, including a decisive dunk in the final minute.

Pau Gasol chipped in 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Kevin Garnett pulled down 14 rebounds to go with his 13 points for Boston.

Game six is Tuesday at Boston; tip-off is 9 p.m. on ABC (57).

U. S. Open Golf; Tiger and Rocco in Playoff: Tiger Woods’ streak of not losing a major when he goes in to final round with a lead is not over, but it is in jeopardy.

Rocco Mediate, who would be the oldest player to win a U.S. Open, will face Tiger in an 18-hole playoff today at Torrey Pines after the two finished tied at 72 with a 1-under 283 score.

Lee Westwood broke another precedent—the “Tiger factor.” No one playing in Tiger’s pairing at a major does well, but Westwood was able to stay in it until the 72d hole. If the Englishman had made his birdie putt there would be a three-way playoff for the Open championship.

Tiger had three eagles in the tournament and just missed a fourth. Mediate missed a couple of short putts on Sunday’s round that would have given him the championship.
