Election 2008

Uncle Ron’s Ramblings

Perhaps “Disenfranchised” is Misnomer:
Perhaps “disenfranchised” (ref: Friday, Feb. 1 Herald) is a misnomer in reference to Michigan and Florida voters in the presidential nominating process.
At least those two states’ voters would still have had a choice if they had left their primaries on Super Tuesday (February 5) even though supporters of John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Rudy Guiliani, or Fred Thompson—to name just a few—would not have been able to vote for their candidates.
The Republican nomination could be sewn up tomorrow (Super Tuesday). There aren’t enough votes for Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama to clinch but the Democratic standard bearer should be determined by the time Hoosiers go the polls May 6.
Local voters will be able to help choose a Democratic nominee for Governor of Indiana and a Republican nominee for Congress.

Uncle Ron’s Sports Ramblings

Tom Has the Babes; Eli Has the (2008) Ring:
Even if the final New York Giant comeback in Super Bowl XLII had been unsuccessful, I was going to suggest that one of you girls out there show Eli Manning some love.
He’s a nice young man, he’s a millionaire several times over, and as far as I know he doesn’t chew tobacco (although I can’t confirm that).
I wouldn’t chew tobacco if I was an NFL quarterback. I would probably get hit by Teddy Bruschi or Brian Urlacher and swallow my chaw.
The FOX28 TV coverage showed Patriot quarterback Tom Brady’s girlfriend Giselle Bundchen cheering for him. Eli had his brother Peyton; his mother; and his father, ex-NFL quarterback Archie Manning.
Archie never made it to the Super Bowl, but now he’s had two of his three sons win a ring in consecutive years.
So again, the evidence for clean living is inconclusive. Eli wins the ring but Brady has three and the babes still go for pretty boy Tom and bimbo-monger Tony Romo.
Tony-Jessica Update: Nothing new to report.
