Car Registration: CFH Guests: If you own a motor vehicle, you need to register it with your coach or it could be towed.

“One Step At a Time” Running Group: Three days a week (times and days TBA). Will meet at CFH. Open to Center guests and anyone else who is interested in learning to run. All runners will receive the necessary running gear (i.e. running shoes, shorts, warm-ups, shirts, hats, etc.). There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the basement stairway near the men’s lounge.

Artistic Newsletter: Are you an artist, poet or writer? Place submissions for the new Artistic Newsletter in Emily Pickerill’s box. Express your talents and ideas by participating. Start submitting as soon as possible.

VA Hospital Van: To schedule a ride to the VA Hospital in Ft. Wayne, St. Joseph County veterans can call Doug Davis (USMC, retired) at (574) 243-VETS (8387) The van service also provides connecting rides to the VA hospitals in Marion and Indianapolis.

Homeless Veterans: If you are disabled and cannot work full-time (or are over 65), you may be entitled to a disability pension from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Local Gun Dealer Dies in Prison: Local gun dealer Jason Katz, 32, was killed Tuesday in Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center as a result of an altercation.

Katz was serving a nine-month sentence for illegally selling a handgun to Scott Barnaby, the killer of South Bend Police Corporal Nick Polizzotto. That handgun was not the one used to kill Polizzotto.

Katz was due to be released from the correctional center in August.

New York Governor Resigns: New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned yesterday rather than face impeachment.

Spitzer was allegedly a client of a high-priced call girl ring under investigation by the federal government.

The first-term governor will be succeeded Monday by Lieutenant Governor David Paterson. The new governor, who has been legally blind since birth, will be New York’s first black governor.

CENTCOM Commander Resigns: CENTCOM commander Admiral William J. “Fox” Fallon has resigned after less than one year in the job.

The admiral, who is taking early retirement, was reportedly at odds with the Bush administration for suggesting a diplomatic rather than military solution in Iran.

CENTCOM oversees the Middle East and Afghanistan.

(9) Bethel 86, Warner Pacific (OR) 73 (OT): Sophomore forward Tyler Brown scored 28 points to lead the Pilots (28-6) to a first round win at the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship on the campus of College of the Ozarks (MO).

In the overtime period, the Knights grabbed the lead, 73-72, but Bethel came back to score the final 14 points of the game to earn the win.

Bethel, the Mid-Central conference regular season and postseason champions, shot 46% for the game. William Walker recorded a double-double for the Pilots with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also dished out a game-high seven assists.

Bethel will now face unseeded Ottawa (Kan.) on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the second round. Ottawa recorded the tournament's first upset in the first game of the day, 70-65. The 32-team, single elimination tournament concludes Tuesday, March 13.

Bethel Women Top-Seeded in NAIA: The top-seeded Bethel women (29-3) face Northwood (FL) today at 11:15 a.m. in the NAIA Division II tournament at Sioux City, IA.
